For over 30 years, Laurel Cook and her husband ran a kennel outside of Clayton, Ontario, and she took her inspiration for animal portraiture from the many beautiful dogs in their lives. At the end of November 2020, they closed the kennel and Laurel decided to take a new direction in her work.
She has always loved barn quilts but felt they were missing something. So
she began painting animals onto quilt patterns. She paints these on
aluminum panels using high quality exterior house paint so that they can
be mounted outside. She calls these whimsical paintings “Photo Bombing
Barn Quilts”.
