Barbara Mullally is a Clayton-based metalsmith and jewellery maker. She is known for her jewellery line based on pea pods that continues to delight her. Her new work features earrings where she tortures the metals with heat to create unique finishes.

Mullally studied sculpture at l’École des beaux arts du Québec in the 1960s and began jewellery studies in the late 1980s at Algonquin College and Haliburton School of the Arts (Fleming College).

Barbara is also a Docent at the National Gallery of Canada.

“After art school I needed to find paid employment. I took a government job, got tracked for management and spent the next 30+ years doing that during the day and making art at night and on weekends. I’ve been banging metal for over 27 years.

The geometric shapes are such fun to play with. This line is for the fearless person, the opposite of my refined work in silver and gold, but I just want to try something totally new. Of course, I still do custom work, such as wedding rings.”
