Diana Jackson

Diana Jackson

Diana Jackson is an Almonte-based artist who creates abstracted sculptural forms in clay and mixed-media painted landscapes.

Jackson enjoys the challenge and the discovery of working with different media and techniques, and hopes to share her sense of wonder and curiosity with viewers.

Painting abstracted landscapes allows her to freely explore colour and composition without any tethers to an accurate representation of form.

The clay pieces are fired in a barrel or pit outdoors to create unique effects that enhance the organic quality of her work.

Diana has studied various design and art disciplines at University of Guelph, Algonquin College and University of Ottawa. But ultimately it is her own experimentation with various media and art-making processes that have allowed her to find her personal voice.

“I am passionate about visual texture. I sometimes start with a sketch or conceptual idea but ultimately I let the creative process dictate the outcome, working with the materials, going with the flow, and accepting mistakes and changes to expectations.”
