Nadine’s mother taught her how to make her own clothes; she was a tough and exacting teacher which exasperated Nadine. After high school, Nadine worked at Ottawa’s largest advertising agency and was mentored by many creative minds.

In later life she discovered quilting, but quickly found that having neither patience nor the space to work big, she started to make miniatures.

Over the years, Sculland has received many awards for her miniature quilts.

“I love the fact that their being small is what makes the quilts… a piece of artwork, especially when they are framed and ready to be hung and admired.

I’ve been sewing since I was a child, having made clothes sewn by hand for my dolls from scraps… that my mother gave me. I would often use her sewing machine if it had been left… much to her dismay!”
